"5 Essential Travel Tips for Exploring Valbona Valley"

1.Get a Local Map

Whether you're a novice hiker or a seasoned pro, having a local map can greatly enhance your exploration of the valley. NorthVenture provides both 2D and 3D maps of Valbona Valley, along with GPS, GPX, and other tracking files. Check them out here:

2.Negotiate prices

If you want to save money when shopping locally in Albania, you can achieve this by negotiating! Feel free to request lower prices for the products or services you desire, whether it's a taxi, accommodation, or even food. Negotiating prices is a common practice among locals, so don't hesitate to do the same!

3.Payments and currency

Make sure you know this, most of the local businesses in the Valbona Valley (also in general in Albania) will only accept cash payments. The nearest ATM is in Bajram Currit Town, Tropoja therefore is good to get cash with you in advance! The local currency is called 'Lek' however most of the businesses will also accept other currencies such as Euro, British pound, Dollars etc.

4. Power bank

Setting out on long hikes can be tiring and may lead to your electronic gadgets running out of battery, especially in places with scarce charging facilities. That's why having a power bank with you can be highly advantageous. Furthermore, there is a possibility of power cuts in the valley, emphasizing the necessity of having a power bank readily available!

5. Find Cheap places to stay

Now here are my top suggestions when it comes to finding an accomodation in Valbona Valley. 'Kol Gjoni Guest House', 'Breezy Hotel', 'Bujtina Hysa', 'Villas Jezerca', 'Valbona Toursit Centre'. Prices vary between 10$-50$ per person depending on where you stay and what is included. There are many other places to stay, however these are rated best from previous visitors!
